One Day at IIMB is a unique event organized by Vikasana, the social service initiative of IIM Bangalore, where IIM Bangalore opens its gates to everyone to experience a day in the life of a student of a B School. This is part of Daan Utsav, the Joy of Giving Week Celebrations of IIMB. This event is unique in a sense that it is a fundraiser for one of Vikasana's partner NGO.
This year, ODAI is going to be held on January 13, 2019. One Day at IIM Bangalore is a flagship event organized by Vikasana. The event aims to provide participants a feel of what is it to be like an IIMB student for a day!
The event is being organized on the 13th of January, 2019 as a fundraising event. The proceeds will be donated to one of Vikasana’s partner NGO’s Home of Hope Foundation, a non-profit voluntary organization working towards providing shelter, food, clothing, education and medication for the homeless people in and around Bangalore.
Last year, the participants consisted mainly of working professionals from companies such as Citi, Wipro, Timken and Tech Mahindra, and students from Management and Engineering colleges. A couple of the participants were entrepreneurs, with start-ups in the pipeline. The IIMB campus indeed is a big advocate of diversity! The 2017 event saw four participants converting IIM Bangalore, to be students of the current 2018 batch!
For many of the participants like Danny Hmar, it was a dream come true. “I came to the campus with the intention of growing as a person and as an entrepreneur. At the end of the event, I took back some of the most memorable moments and lessons of my life.” quipped Danny. This year, the programme will be entering its 6th edition. As many as 85 people get a seat to experience the life of a student for a day at one of the most sought after management schools in the country.
The chosen 85 participants will attend lectures by eminent professors on economy, marketing, strategy, and a case study class. They were also given a campus tour to get the feel of life in the beautiful environment of IIM Bangalore. The programme is concluded with case discussions, presentations and cultural activities. This mesmerizing array of events keep the participants on their toes the entire day; much like the students themselves. Poetically, this Joy of Giving Week gave participants something enriching - an experience that money could never buy and the unmatched satisfaction of helping the underprivileged.
